Bing Blazers in Las Vegas!
Harry Day (22) and Michael Smith (30), of Personal Best in Armadale, fly out to Nevada to take part in the most extreme and gruelling version of Tough Mudder.
The West Lothian personal training duo are set to take part in a gruelling 24-hour assault course in Las Vegas for local charity.
The World’s Toughest Mudder
The event is based on how many laps of a five-mile obstacle-filled course competitors can complete during a 24-hour period.
It runs from 10am to 10am starting on November 15 and is the ultimate test of endurance and fitness.
Harry, from Linlithgow, said: “I’ve done Tough Mudder three times and I saw this online. I always thought it would be amazing to do, and if someone was up for doing it with me then I really wanted to do it.
“It just happens once a year and people from all over the world who have done Tough Mudder go over and take part.”
The pair hope to run the equivalent of two marathons with other obstacles being the heat and cold of the desert.
They will try and take the challenge on together but Harry expects the course to take its toll over the 24 hours.
“I think it will be mentally draining - it is a huge mental challenge,” he said.
“It could be 3am and you’re cold, wet and hungry and you’ve just got to get up and go for another lap.”
Bosum Buds of Scotland
They will be fundraising for Bosom Buds of Scotland, the chosen charity of Bing Blazer.
They work with Bosom Buds running specialist exercise and training sessions for people during and recovering from post cancer treatment.
Las Vegas Half Marathon
They won’t be alone when they fly out to America. Two of Personal Best's clients have decided to join them in fundraising although will be taking part in a different challenge.
Harry said: “There are two of us doing the event and another two clients are coming out with us to take part in the Las Vegas half marathon for their own charities.
He added, “We are there for two days before, and two days after World’s Toughest Mudder but the first day after will just be a write-off - we will be recovering.
“After that we fly to New York for a couple of days to relax and enjoy ourselves.”
